Soap and Glory Solar Powder | Review

Hey everyone,

So a few weeks back I was perusing the isles of Boots and decided to check out the Soap & Glory stand.
I was in need of a new bronzer so I thought I'd give Solar Powder a whirl. First off, don't let the pink shimmer turn you off, this disappears after the first use. Solar Powder is a bronzing duo that comes with a dark bronze matte shade and a lighter brown with a hint of shimmer. I apply this by mixing both colours together to give me a perfect sun-kissed look.

This bronzer isn't too orange for me, so great for us paler ladies. I find it doesn't look too muddy on me either which is always a bonus!
The packaging isn't the best, it's a hard cardboard with a magnetic closing, which I find opens easily in my makeup bag. I love how the little compact has a mirror, so it's great for on-the-go touch ups.

Solar Powder retails for €15, which is quite a bit for a drugstore product, but it's definitely one of the best I've tried, two thumbs up from me!

You can find Soap & Glory in Boots stores or on the Boots website.

Have you tried any Soap & Glory makeup?

Kevyn Aucoin Creamy Glow Blush in Liquidfuchsia

Hey lovelies,

Since venturing into the world of Kevyn Aucoin Creamy Glow blushes with Tansoleil, I have fallen head over heels and can't seem to get enough of them.
So while I was in London recently I picked up Liquidfuchsia, a beautiful err..fuchsia! This colour would be perfect for an extra pop of colour on fairer skintones.

These blushes apply quite sheer, but can be easily built up. I apply these with my fingers and then blend it out with my Real Techniques Stippling brush. They're super easy to apply and just melt into the skin.

The little compact also boasts a full size mirror for on-the-go touch ups. This can also double up as a lip product if needs be.

These blushes are available from Space NK stores and retail for £21.

Have you tried Liquidfuchsia?

Sleek Blush By 3- Sweet Cheeks

Hey everyone,

While I was in London last month I thought I would take the opportunity to check out Sleek's latest Candy Collection.

The Sweet Cheeks blush trio caught my eye immediately as I thought the other items wouldn't be as wearable for me. This trio is unlike any of the other Blush By 3 palettes as it features a cream blush, which is a first from Sleek. All of the colours are wearable and would suit all skintones.

Cupcake- A deep fuchsia pink cream blush.
Dolly Mix- A beautiful lilac blush with a matte finish.
Candy Floss- A bright candy pink with a shimmery finish.
As with other Sleek products, the pigmentation definitely doesn't disappoint. A little goes a long way with these blushes, the packaging is also pretty sturdy and includes a full sized mirror.

Overall, I would highly rate this little trio from Sleek!

This palette retails for €13 and is available from Selected Superdrug stores or from the Sleek website.

Have you tried anything from the Candy Collection?

London IMATS 2013 | My Experience

Hey everyone,

So as I mentioned in my last post, I was lucky enough to attend IMATS in London last month. I headed to the Olympia in Kensington on the Saturday with my mam (she managed to get in for free!).

When I arrived the hall was packed. I headed to the Makeup Forever stand first, which was absolutely jammed! Queues were awful, with waiting times of about 30 minutes. Not to mention there was about 5 people working there. I did manage to pick up one of their aqua cream shadows, an aqua cream liner, a aqua lip liner and a Dany pouch for brushes, all of which were very reasonable priced.

Next I headed to the crown brush stand, which was packed when I first arrived, so I headed back when the crowds cleared around 1pm.

I also headed to the Stargazer stand where I picked up a box of pink hair dye.

One of my favourite purchases came from Hakuhodo, where I picked up a soft powder brush, which I adore!

The last stand I headed to was Royal and Langnickel, where I picked up two brushes. I picked up a short handled powder brush and a flat top powder brush. Both of which came in at under a tenner!

I managed to spot Fleur De Force, Missglamorazzi and Talk Becky Talk, and was raging I didn't head over to say hi. There were swarms of people taking pictures with them.

Despite the crowds and queues, I would love to head back to IMATS next year, I had a fantastic day.

Here are the pictures I took on the day.

Update- Where I've been?

Hey everyone,

Long time no speak. I'd like to apologise for my absence.
The last month has had its highs and lows for me.

I ended a very turbulent, long-term relationship. I won't bore you with the details.

June still definitely had its highs. I was lucky enough to attend the Irish Beauty Bloggers meetup in Dublin organised by the lovely Katie from 'What Katie Healy Did' (blog post coming soon!).
Also in June, I had the opportunity to work at Bon Jovi in Slane, which was incredible!
I was also very lucky to be able to attend IMATS in London. So expect a blog post with loooads of pictures from my trip.
Another big change I made in June was to dye my hair pink. It's perfect for Summer! Please excuse my 'Grumpy Cat-esque' expression and the wild brows!

You may have also notice my little blog makeover, this was by the lovely Lauren from 'Makeup By Lauren Marie'.

I'm happy to be back posting, and thank you all for reading <3

Hey everyone,
Just a little update, today I'm heading off on a weeks holiday to Spain (yippee!). Unfortunately I haven't prepared any posts for while I'm away, but I look forward to returning rejuvenated and ready to go, so do keep your eyes peeled :)

April Favourites

Hey everyone,
First off I'm happy to say that I am finished college and all exams, so will have a lot more time for my blog, so expect plenty of blog posts coming your way.

April has been a crazy month for me, but I still have a couple of favourites to share with you.

Hair:

Bumble and Bumble Thickening shampoo
My hair is quite fine and tends to sit really flat. So while I was perusing the isles of Boots I came across the Bumble and Bumble counter. I had heard quite a lot about the brand and its products, and when I laid eyes on the thickening shampoo I had to try it! So I picked up the travel size to see how I got on, and I absolutely loved it, so I picked up the full size while I was in Liverpool. This makes my hair look and feel a lot fuller, so if you have fine hair like me, I definitely recommend checking this out.

Ojon Revitalizing Mist
As I mentioned I have quite fine hair, which often gets tangled, especially after washing it. I spray this over towel dried hair and brush through, I find the brush glides through and doesn't snag, which is always a plus. Not to mention this smells absolutely divine!

Tangle Teezer
My Tangle Teezer and the Ojon Revitalizing Mist have been going hand in hand this month. If you suffer from knotty hair that tends to snag, I definitely recommend trying out the Tangle Teezer.

Body/ Skincare:

Kiehl's Ultimate Strength Hand Salve
I am a bit of a germaphobe, so I find myself washing my hands a lot. I find my hands can get really dry and I had been using a tonne of different hand creams until I came across this one. My mam had actually picked this up for herself and I thought I'd try it out. I absolutely loved it, so of course the following day I went and picked one up, as ya do! This hand cream is unlike any I've tried, it's a rich balm-like cream that sinks in instantaneously, and doesn't leave your hands sticky. One problem some may have would be the scent, personally it doesn't bother me.  It's quite a herbal scent, similar to the Caudalie Beauty Elixer. If you're in the market for a good hand cream, definitely check this one out.

Lush Ponche shower gel
As you can tell I really do love this shower gel. I love using this first thing in the morning, it contains oranges and tequila, so it's guaranteed to wake you up! However, this is only limited edition for Christmas, so apologies if you can't get your hands on it. I have already have another bottle ready to go!

Kiehl's Midnight Recovery Concentrate
This is another product I tried out thanks to my mam. My skin has become somewhat normal as of late, which I'm putting done to healthier eating and a good skincare routine. Anyway, I used this one night before bed under my night cream and my skin felt so smooth the following morning. You only need the teeniest amount as it spreads easily. I was told this can be used on hair, nails and body so it's a handy multi-use product.

La Roche-Posay Effaclar Duo
This month I had a few pesky spots around my chin area, I tried everything to clear it up and my Origins Spot Remover just wasn't cutting it! So I whipped this out and slapped it all over, I didn't see instant results, but after a couple of days the spots started to fade, and they've only just gone in the last week, so thank you La Roche-Posay!

Makeup:

Illamasqua blush in Hussy
Unfortunately it's quite difficult to get your hands on Illamasqua products here in Ireland. I picked this blush up in Liverpool. Boy is this blush pigmented, I would recommend being extremely light-handed when using this, lets face it, nobody wants clown cheeks! Hussy is a gorgeous pinky peach colour, which looks nice and natural if applied correctly. I definitely plan on picking up more of these at some stage.

Bourjois Healthy Mix
Last year I fell in love with the Healthy Mix Serum from Bourjois, so I thought I'd give this one a go. This is a new formulation of the original Healthy Mix foundation. It leaves an almost satin finish, which I quite like for days when I want a bit more coverage without it being too heavy!

MAC Studio Fix powder
I love this powder for a lighter coverage, it sets my foundation beautifully, I tend to only top up my powder once of twice throughout the day.

Benefit Fake Up concealer
This month I had heard so much hype about this concealer. I have a lot of trouble finding a concealer to use under my eyes without being too drying. This one ticked all the boxes for me, I've been using it daily since buying it, and have already repurchased it.

Covergirl Clump Crusher mascara
I have always had a problem with my eyelashes clumping, so when I got wind of Covergirls latest release I had to try it. Low and behold it does exactly what it says on the tin tube. My lashes look more defined and not a clump in sight! Max Factors Clump Defy mascara is essentially the same thing, but I have yet to try it.

MAC Neutral Palette
These have been my go-to colours for everyday. I brought this palette away with me to Liverpool for a weekend and found myself not using anything else. The colours in the palette are: Wedge, Cork, Shroom and Phloof!. For everyday I apply Wedge all over the lid and a bit of Cork to define my crease, if I'm feeling adventurous I might add a bit of Shroom or Phloof over the Wedge.

Bobbi Brown brow pencil in mahogany
I was meant to include this in last months favourites, so I thought I'd include it this month as it is still a firm favourite. I used to be all about the powder, but I just find a pencil is a lot quicker and can look a bit more natural.

What have some of your favourites been this month?
